The premiere of “Alien: Covenant” has been getting underway in London tonight, with reviews expected to break on Saturday for Ridley Scott’s third film (and either the sixth or the eighth movie in the franchise in total, depending on whether you count the “Vs. Predator” pair) in the now forty-year-old sci-fi franchise.
Most press are likely still under embargo, but a few Tweet-reactions either from the public or those who ignored the warnings have snuck out from the screening, which you can read below. But while you’re waiting for more official verdicts to drop, you can check out the first clip from the sci-fi blockbuster, which 20th Century Fox have released.

It’s a brief one, but grisly even in less than 30 seconds. Carmen Ejogo’s Karine is locked in a room with a crewmember who’s about to have a very bad day involving an alien and his spine (if the film doesn’t use the term ‘spineburster,’ we’ll start to now), while crewmate Faris (Amy Seimetz) absolutely refuses to let her out. It’s pretty terrifying stuff and certainly continues to suggest that this’ll be closer in quality to “Alien” and “Aliens” than subsequent movies.
Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, James Franco, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce also star and the film opens internationally on May 12th, before hitting the U.S. on May 19th.
#AlienCovenant is an intense, strange and nightmarish continuation of the franchise. A great companion to Prometheus & the Alien mythos.

Bloody, odd, mysterious and a staggering picture of madness at times. Horrific in unexpected ways. #AlienCovenant
