Megan Fox To Replace Rose McGowan In 'Red Sonja'?

Megan Fox has reportedly been offered the titular role in Millenium Film’s “Red Sonja” adaptation with both Rose McGowan and director Douglas Aariokowski now off the project.

Last we heard, Robert Rodriguez (who is only peripherally involved; as an executive producer at best) noted that the project was “waiting until they make the Conan movie before they do [‘Sonja’] — to see how that works for them.” Notice he says, “they” and not, “we” and “how it works out for them.”

Things looked even grimmer for this project when McGowan was cast in Marcus Nispel’s upcoming “Conan” remake, but not as the red-haired heroine she was sold as at Comic Con a few years ago.

Millenium is now reportedly looking for a new director, another writer to touch up David N. White’s script and has now offered the lead role to Fox. The seemingly like-for-like switch makes a lot of sense though as the film is evidently “an origins story about an innocent teenager who metamorphosizes into an unparalleled warrior” making Fox more age-appropriate for the role.

Fox is hot property after breaking out in Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers’ films but hasn’t really staked her claim outside that franchise. “Jennifer’s Body” proved that the actress wasn’t the box office magnet she was perceived to be but still has a chance to redeem herself with the upcoming “Jonah Hex” and “Passion Play” (though buzz on those films isn’t as hot). If anything, Fox’s image alone will make life much easier for Millenium put everything together.
