After their on-screen chemistry in “Thor: Ragnarok,” Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will be paired up again in “Men in Black International.” This time, they will trade Asgardian armor for the classic black suit and shades, saving the earth from aliens while looking extremely cool.
As the fourth entry in the franchise, it is the first movie not to star the original pairing of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. However, given the significant action experience of both Hemsworth and Thompson and their previous chemistry in ‘Ragnarok,’ this will most likely be a welcome change, breathing fresh blood into a dormant franchise (though, of course, Will Smith’s comedic brilliance and authenticity will be missed). With a script written by “Iron Man” writers Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, we can expect a solid blend of action and comedy.
Additionally, this new MiB installment will benefit from improved visual effects and the previous action experience of director F. Gary Gray (“The Italian Job,” “The Fate of the Furious”). The film will also feature supporting performances from Emma Thompson, who will be reprising her role from “MiB 3,” Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley,” “The Big Sick”), and Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) as head of the MiB’s London branch.
In terms of plot, it doesn’t look “MiB International” will be making any big departure from previous films (it is a movie about secret agents who protect the world from aliens, after all). This should come as good news to fans of the franchise, whereas the new addition of Hemsworth and Thompson and the change of location will hopefully be enough to keep things fresh.
If the movie poster is any indication, the movie will mostly revolve around Hemsworth and Thompson looking bad-ass and firing really big guns.
“Men in Black International” will be released in theatres on June 14.
