When “Thor: Ragnarok” graced our screens and hearts with its presence back in 2017, the Marvel adaption turned heads in more ways than one. The film had the highest box office ratings out of all the ‘Thor’ movies to date, thanks in part to the immediate compatibility of two leads, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Luckily for us, director F. Gary Gray (“The Italian Job,” “Straight Outta Compton”) took one look at this magnificent duo and had the idea we didn’t know we so desperately needed: Hemsworth and Thompson in a buddy cop movie.

Okay, not exactly a buddy cop movie, but so much better. With Gray directing, the two will star in “MIB,” an upcoming spinoff of Will Smith’s original “Men in Black.” This time, instead of playing actual extra-terrestrials, Thompson and Hemsworth will play the secret government agents handling aliens on earth. And yes, they BOTH will be wearing the classic black suits and sunglasses. Be prepared to swoon.

To make it even better, Liam Neeson (“Taken,” “Schindler’s List”) will star as the head of the London branch of the agency, and Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley,” “The Big Sick”) as alien sidekick Pawny. Emma Thompson (“Love Actually,” “Sense and Sensibility”) will reprise her role from “Men in Black 3” as a fellow agent. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Will Smith will be making a reappearance. The film will feature the London branch of the men in black group as they travel the world to solve an alien murder mystery. If the two leads can bring the chemistry they had in ‘Thor,’ we are in for one hell of a ride.
“Men in Black International” hits theaters June 14, 2019.
