Another day and more trophies handed out as 2013 tumbles toward a close. Over the weekend, the British Independent Film Awards provided some dinner and statues to a wide range of movies, and given their mandate, it shines a light on a different batch of movies than the ones that are dominating critics charts stateside.
Festival fave “Metro Manila” snared Best Film and Best Director, while the other categories spread the love around with James McAvoy earning Best Actor for “Filth,” Ben Mendelsohn winning Best Supporting Actor for “Starred Up” with Imogen Poots getting a new decoration for the fireplace with her prize for Best Supporting Actress for “The Look Of Love.” Paul Greengrass also took the Variety Award.
