As we just reported, it appears that the man with the reloading arms, Henry Cavill, is out as the Big Blue Boyscout, aka Superman. While it’s not set in stone, as the Ben Affleck out as Batman is still not official, it looks like Warner Bros. and DC Films is going in a different direction after their first phase of DCEU films failed to catch on. So what’s next? Well, if you’re a fan of the Superman of your childhood, please buckle up, it’s going to be a little bumpy.
According to a new report from Deadline, while there are no plans to recast Cavill’s Superman as of now, in the future WB would be most likely to go in a different direction with its Superman. And by that we mean, Michael B. Jordan. Yes, the report says that Jordan’s name has been bandied about as a possible Superman…down the line.
The actor is probably best known, lately at least, for his incredible role as the villain Erik Killmonger in the “Black Panther” film. And let’s be real, for as much great work that Chadwick Boseman has done as the titular character, Jordan was the clear standout in that superhero film. But previous to that, Jordan has accumulated a filmography of great roles, such as in “Fruitvale Station” and the franchise-launching “Creed.”

But don’t expect WB to announce Jordan as your next Superman later today. As we also reported earlier, the studio is more interested in its upcoming “Supergirl” film, which could mean that the iconic “S” might be on the chest of a teenage girl for the foreseeable future. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if a Superman cameo is included somewhere in that film. With that being said, and we must consider this given the studio, if “Supergirl” fails to capture the hearts and minds of audiences, it’s clear that WB will need to bring in Supes sooner rather than later.
So, is the world ready for Michael B. Jordan to don the red and blue tights? Let us know what you think!
