Paramount Pictures are already distributing J.J. Abrams’ modestly-budgeted supernatural thriller, “Super 8” and it appears this is a trend that will continue for the company (let’s not forget they also made serious bank with the ultra-low budget “Paranormal Activity” and presumably will do the same with the upcoming sequel).
They’re getting into the low-rent sci-fi business again this time with producer Michael Bay, who you might know from pictures like “Transformers,” “Bad Boys,” etc.
Deadline reports that the latest is called, at least for now, “Confidential Alien Project” and it’s going to be directed by Bobby Glickert, who helmed films we’ve never heard of like, “The Descendent,” and “Road to Moloch” starring actors we’ve never heard of. Much like “Cloverfield” (another Paramount modest-budget pic) and “Paranormal Activity,” this one is a cheapie that will be made for about $12 million dollars.
It’s being produced by Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company that couldn’t make a good movie if they tried (the “Nightmare On Elm Street” remake, the “Friday The 13th” remake and more crud like the “The Amityville Horror” remake). We couldn’t care less, yet we somehow still wrote this (honestly, had this draft open for four hours…).
