Michael Haneke's 'The White Ribbon' Set For Christmas Day Release, More 'Scott Pilgrim' Ephemera

We briefly mentioned this a few days ago, but perhaps its worth its own “bit.” Tony Scott and Stephen Gaghan (Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Traffic”) are set to adapt Hunter S. After J.J. Abrams jumped on board for the fourth installment of the “Mission Impossible” franchise, the project is now reported to have a tentative aim to hit cinemas sometime in 2011. Paramount weren’t kidding when they said they’d maintain a committment to generic and mindless blockbusters,….errr, summer tentpole films (and this deal will try to heal the Sumner Redstone/Cruise rift from the superstars unceremonious ousting in ’06, they need him). The article also notes that Cruise projects “Wichita” is now untitled and that David Cronenberg’s “The Matarese Falcon” – which was set to team Cruise up with Denzel Washington – is currently being rewritten and still has Cruise’s name attached [ed. God, no Cruise in a Cronenberg film, Denzel and Viggo Moretensen, head-to-head, do it! How much of the script is being tailor-made to Cruise? Yuck] [Variety]

Here’s a look at some personal items from the room of Knives Chau (actress Ellen Wong), the obsessive teen over-the-heels in love with Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), from Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” including a poster for his band Sex Bob-Omb (that also mentions rival band Crash And The Boys) and a love note. The poster is for a gig at the El Mocambo, a real live venue in Toronto.
