It’s really shocking that Michelle Monaghan remains an underrated actress. She’s had no shortage of major roles in films and TV projects such as “True Detective,” “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” “Gone Baby Gone,” and the various “Mission: Impossible” films. And yet, she still remains an actress that doesn’t get named with some of the best in the world, and that’s a damn shame. Hopefully, her upcoming feature with director Brad Anderson will change that.
According to Deadline, Monaghan is set to star in Brad Anderson’s upcoming film, titled “Blood.” The film is written by Will Honley and tells the story of a woman that is coming to terms with a separation from her partner and moves with her daughter and young son to a farmhouse. Once there, the young boy gets bitten by the family dog, leading to a mysterious illness that has an even more disturbing cure that pushes the mother to the edge of how far she’s willing to go to help her child.
Anderson is probably best known for his work on the 2004 feature, “The Machinist.” Most recently, he’s directed films such as “Beirut” and “Fractured.” Though both were fairly well-received from critics, those features failed to really connect with audiences, with the latter falling into the dreaded category of “forgotten Netflix originals.” However, he’s clearly a talented director and with Monaghan leading the cast, we can hope that “Blood” will help bring him back into the spotlight.
Monaghan has a number of big projects on the docket, as she recently finished up filming the new Vaughn Stein’s film, “Every Breath You Take,” which reunites her with Casey Affleck. She’s also set for a role in the forthcoming remake of “The Craft.”
A target release date has yet to be named for “Blood.”
