In addition to the ever-growing list of projects he’s eyeing to direct, Ridley Scott has also accrued other projects he intends to only produce, a large list in its own right. And while it’s not surprising that Monday morning brought news of yet another Scott-produced film, what did set tongues wagging was the future film’s multi-billion dollar source material.
Complex reported on Production Weekly’s surprise listing of a “Halo” film with Scott named as the producer and included a screenshot of a twitter conversation where the industry mag doubled-down on their announcement by describing the new “Halo” film as completely separate from Steven Spielberg‘s XBOX Live-exclusive series and as “a live-action feature-length digital” film. Production Weekly was so confident in their intel that also tweeted that “Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring was writing the project.
All that, of course, was news to the owners of “Halo,” a certain company by the name of Microsoft. The computing giant told gaming site Euro Gamer in no uncertain terms that there are no current plans for a “Halo” movie, saying “We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture.”
Sorry fans, the “Halo” movie of your dreams is still not a reality yet. You’ll just have to settle for all the cool ads for the game.
