Although the trades are being cautious and using phrases like “seems that way” while underscoring some deals aren’t in place, Josh Trank hasn’t hit Twitter yet to debunk this latest news, and most places seem pretty confident that casting on “Fantastic Four” has finally been locked down. And it looks like the reboot of the superhero quartet are bringing some rising young faces to the roles.
The long rumored, “That Awkward Moment” pals Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic) and Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) will star alongside Kate Mara (Sue Storm) and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing) in Josh Trank’s reboot. And it seems there will be some changes to the canon, with The Wrap pointing out that the Storm siblings may not be from the same parents. Are they adopted or perhaps they’ll just do away with the unnecessary requirement that they have to be related? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
But don’t get too comfortable with this cast yet. Bell doesn’t have a deal inked, and Teller’s involvement will depend on whether or not his shooting schedule for the “Divergent” sequel “Insurgent” can be worked out (the YA series and superhero flick are expected to lens at the same time). So things can still change.
As usual, no other plot details are being revealed but the curtain will start opening up as this heads into production for a July 19, 2015 release date.
