Miles Teller has got some time to kill before he teams up with Nicolas Winding Refn to shoot the Amazon series “Too Old To Die Young” this fall. So, he’s going reunite with a familiar face to make a survival drama.
Teller and Shailene Woodley, who starred together in “The Spectacular Now” and some “Divergent” movies, are gearing up for “Adrift.” Baltasar Kormákur ( “Everest”) will directed the Aaron and Jordan Kandell, penned script that tells the true story of Tami Oldham and her fiancé, Richard Sharp, who set sail from Tahiti, encounter a massive hurricane which destroys their vessel, and leaves Tami fighting to survive on her own in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Teller will play Sharp, and yes, his character dies.
Production will get underway the summer, but Kormákur already has his eye on what might be next, lining up the adaption of Jo Nesbo‘s “I Am Victor.” Longtime Bond writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, will be writing the script for the thriller about a divorce attorney who winds up framed for multiple murders. Fascinating stuff, but one thing at a time — “Adrift” rolls first, and it sounds like it could be either a straight up thriller or awards contender material. [THR/Deadline]
