The Stephen King brand — which has been strong for a long time now — is really flexing its muscle this year. The horror writer has a mysterious new series brewing at Hulu with J.J. Abrams, and of course, the big screen version of his epic “It” which is already becoming one of the most anticipated movie events of the year. If that’s not enough, “The Mist” is headed to the small screen thanks to Spike, and it actually looks pretty intriguing.

Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Frances Conroy, are the ensemble players in this new telling of the story, which finds a small town, dealing with the aftermath of an awful crime, engulfed in the titular fog. Here’s the official synopsis:
Based on a story by Stephen King, THE MIST has been re-imagined for television by Executive Producer and Writer Christian Torpe and produced for Spike by TWC-Dimension Television. Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
“The Mist” debuts on Spike TV on June 22nd.
