'Mister America' Exclusive Clip: Tim Heidecker Wants To Take A Bite Out Of Crime In His Latest Comedy

Trying to explain the backstory of “Mister America” is a bit of a daunting, almost futile effort. At this point, it’s clear that the comedy is truly meant for fans of the very unique brand of comedy from Tim Heidecker and Greg Turkington. However, even if you come into “Mister America” with little knowledge of the folks involved, you’re likely going to find the film utterly hilarious and incredibly strange.

And since “Mister America” has recently arrived in select theaters, with expansion coming in the future, we’re thrilled to be able to offer our readers an exclusive look at a clip from the political satire. As mentioned, “Mister America” is the latest film from Tim Heidecker and the crew from the “On Cinema” series. In fact, the new film is a sequel to that series. However, the term “sequel” doesn’t really go far enough to describe “Mister America.”

The film follows Tim Heidecker as he’s mounting his first political campaign to land the office of District Attorney for San Bernadino, California. There’s just a couple of problems. You see, Heidecker (the character, not the actual guy — though at times, it’s difficult to discern which is which) is recently coming off a murder acquittal after he was accused of poisoning over a dozen people at an EDM concert through the use of bad vape juice. (Timely!)

Normally, a murder accusation and public trial would be career suicide for a politician, but for Heidecker, it’s just a beginning. Oh, and don’t forget that he has absolutely no political experience or a law degree. But those minor issues aren’t going to stand between him and his goal — the utter destruction of his opponent, District Attorney Vincent Rosetti (let’s just say they have history).

Long story short, “Mister America” is a comedy unlike anything else out there right now. And if you watch the clip below and laugh at the type of humor that is on display, then this film is a must-see.

“Mister America” is in select theaters now.

Here’s the synopsis:

A freshman filmmaker follows Tim Heidecker during the final month of his campaign for district attorney. What begins as a profile of an outsider candidate facing an uphill battle evolves into a study of toxic delusion as Tim’s motivations and controversial past begin to unravel his candidacy. Taking on a popular incumbent has found Tim and his inexperienced campaign manager outmatched. Low on funds, experience, and connections, Tim hits the streets in an attempt to connect with voters, but has difficulty winning over the community. With word of his campaign spreading, former associates of Tim try to warn the public with stories of bad business deals, strained friendships and a failed court case in which he found himself accused of murder. With days until the election and his campaign in free-fall, Tim has to confront the unexpected costs of pursuing his dream.
