‘Moonshot’ Trailer: Lana Condor & Cole Sprouse Star In A YA Sci-Fi Romance

How often have we seen a rom-com that focused on a guy and girl BFF combo where the guy secretly pines after the girl? A million times, right? That’s one of the oldest tricks in the rom-com playbook. But what if you throw in a spaceship heading to Mars into the mix? Well, then you have something a bit more unique, like in the new HBO Max feature, “Moonshot.”

As seen in the trailer for “Moonshot,” the film follows the story of a guy who secretly has a crush on his bestie. But the problem is that she’s been in a super committed long-term relationship with her boyfriend, who happens to be working on Mars. So, when she gets on a spaceship to head to Mars to live out her life in love, the young guy sneaks onto the ship and goes there, too. Hijinks and YA romance ensue.

The film stars Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse. Both of which have made names for themselves amongst the YA crowd. Condor is most famous for her lead role in the “To All the Boys…” franchise on Netflix. On the other hand, Sprouse has been in several films but is probably best known for his work on the CW soap, “Riverdale.”

“Moonshot” is set to arrive on HBO Max on March 31. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Moonshot follows Walt (Cole Sprouse) and Sophie (Lana Condor) as they join forces in order to be reunited with their significant others. The two embark upon a lively journey that winds up taking them both wildly and unexpectedly off course—a romantic comedy with a twist from director Christopher Winterbauer.
