Using our brain and the information already out there we have a pretty good idea of what’s going to be at Comic Con 2010 this year and you should have pretty much figured it out too.
Confirmed already for appearances are: Zack Snyder’s women-in-prison psychedelic B-movie “Sucker Punch,” something from Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” starring Ryan Reynolds, Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables” (it opens in August so fans could be treated to the whole thing early like “Kick-Ass” did last year), “Megamind,” and “Battle: Los Angeles.” As well as Disney’s “Tron Legacy” (naturally).
We did a whole piece of educated speculation and so far most of it is turning out to be true (and again, it’s no-brainer stuff. THR confirms that Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” will be in attendance along with his Simon Pegg/Nick Frost pals who will unveil the first look footage of Greg Mottola’s “Paul” which just yesterday was slated for a March 18, 2011 release date.
Deadline reports that the graphic novel adaptation “Red” (starring Bruce Willis and looking way better than it deserves to be) and “Drive Angry 3D” from director Patrick Lussier (“My Bloody Valentine”) starring Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard and William Fichtner will also be in attendance.
Two more no-shit announcements: Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams will be in San Diego. The former will no doubt discuss Marvel’s “The Avengers” and hopefully his rewrite of “Captain America: The First Avenger,” (plus whatever he has cooking) and the latter will undoubtedly discuss “Super 8,” and to a lesser degree, “Star Trek 2” — it has a June 29, 2012 release date so perhaps we’ll get plot and script details.
There’s no official word yet, but we fully expect Sony to announce something from “The Green Hornet” and Fox to announce an appearance by Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete.” Other regulars will probably be Neil Marshall who has “Centurion” perfectly timed for August (just a few short weeks after Comic Con) and we’d expect Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”) to be there, but he’s probably going to be busy shooting “30 Minutes or Less.”
A smaller film recently confirmed is James Gunn’s “Super” starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page. Comic Con’s Thursday line-up is expected today with each day’s announcements following. Update: The full Thursday schedule is out. It’s all usual suspects listed above and the only new edition is Angelina Jolie’s “Salt.” No confirmation yet on “Machete,” “Centurion” or Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet,” bur Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s schedule’s still need to be announced.
