More Photos From "The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus" And Footage Of Heath Ledger

With it’s imminent premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 22nd, more tidbits from Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus” are finding their way online.

Courtesy of this ‘Doctor Parnassus’ fansite, here is a new picture of Christopher Plummer as the title character, Doctor Parnassus. Parnassus is the immortal 1000 year old leader of a traveling theater troupe whose magical mirror allows members of its audience to escape into a universe of boundless imagination.

While we’re at it, here’s another look at Tom Waits as The Devil. In the film, The Devil is the catalyst for action after he comes to Parnassus to collect on a prior arrangement targetting the doctor’s daughter, Valentina – played by Lily Cole. This sparks Heath Ledger’s Tony character to embark on a magical journey through parallel worlds in an attempt to rescue her. Here also is a new image of Verne Troyer as Percy, a dwarf member of the theater troupe who is described as “Dr Parnassus’ anchor to reality… kinda,” whatever that means.

We’ve heard through the grapevine that a market screening for the film is in the cards. If anyone knows someone who knows someone who knows someone, or if that last someone is you, please shoot us an invite.

And lastly, as previously teased, here’s an embed of the ‘Parnassus’ clip from the Cannes opening ceremony. With this actual footage on hand, the realization that this will be the last time we can look forward to seeing Ledger on the silver screen is truly heartbreaking.
