For a while now, we’ve known that the upcoming fourth season of “Mr. Robot” would be its last. The Emmy-winning series has served as a breakout gig for its star Rami Malek, who recently won an Oscar for his performance in the film “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and creator Sam Esmail, who has his hands full with various projects. But now, as we approach the conclusion of the tech thriller series, we’re getting an idea of what fans might expect with the final batch of “Mr. Robot” episodes.
Unfortunately, you’re likely not going to get much of a hint in the new teaser that USA Network released. The teaser, which is just an abbreviated scene, shows Malek’s character Elliot being spoken to by his therapist, who asks him the question, “How many people have you hurt?” Of course, viewers of the series know that many, many people who have come into contact with Elliott have been hurt in the process, all in the name of a cause.
Recently, Esmail commented on the final season of “Mr. Robot” and likened it to how British TV series come to an end — with a Christmas Special.
“Is anybody here a fan of British television?” Esmail said. “Typically how [British shows] wrap up series, like the British ‘Office,’ you tend to do a Christmas special. So the final season of ‘Mr. Robot’ is one very long Christmas special that will last about a week over Christmas of 2015.”
The series stars Rami Malek and Christian Slater, alongside Carly Chaikin, Portia Doubleday, Martin Wallström, Stephanie Corneliussen, and B.D. Wong. The series is created by Esmail, who is also the man responsible for the recent Amazon hit series “Homecoming.”
The fourth and final season of “Mr. Robot” arrives on USA Network in the fall.
