Phase 4 is underway on the Marvel front, with three films and four TV shows already released. Next up on the calendar is “Hawkeye,” but the first MCU show expected in 2022 is “Ms. Marvel.” The new series centers around Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen obsessed with Marvel heroes who suddenly discovers she has superpowers of her own.

Here’s a synopsis from Marvel’s announcement of the show last December:

The Marvel Studios original series centers on fan-favorite Kamala Khan — a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, avid gamer, and voracious fan-fic scribe, Kamala has a special affinity for Super Heroes, particularly Captain Marvel. However, Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school — that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right?

“Ms. Marvel” stars newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Kahn.  Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur also star.  Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Alysia Reiner are also on board in undisclosed roles, while Laurel Masden plays Zoe Zimmer, a popular girl at Kamala’s high school.

“Ms. Marvel” sets up the upcoming Phase 4 film “The Marvels,” which also serves as a sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel.” Don’t expect a team-up between Vellani and Brie Larson until 2023 at the earliest, though.

How will the sixth MCU series for Disney+ stack up to the ones that came before it? Find out in Summer 2022, when “Ms. Marvel” premieres. Check out the trailer below.
