You’ll remember we were kinda over the moon with the terrific indie comedy, “Gigantic” starring Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel and an terribly funny John Goodman during the Toronto Film Festival.
Directed by original new voice Matt Aselton, the film is both a love story and a family tale about connection and letting go of our collective neuroses. We kinda loved it, it was effortlessly charming and an incredible supporting cast of Zack Galifinakis, Ed Asner, Jane Alexander, Ian Roberts and Clarke Peters from “The Wire,” made it that more winning.
Winsomely scored by Imperial Teen founder and ex-Faith No More keyboardist Roddy Bottum, we talked to the music supervisor last night as we had some confusion as to what pop songs were in the film. Well confusion no more, here’s all the songs featured in the film. No word on a soundtrack, but it’s way early days, as the film just had its world premiere at the Toronto Int. Film Festival and doesn’t have distribution or a release day yet, but we’re sure it’ll find one soon enough and come out some time in 2009 if all goes well. It would be a crime if it didn’t come out. We’ve certainly seen a lot lesser crap come out from say Sundance in the last two years (“Wristcutters: A Love Story” being on of the particularly bad indies to get a release and our current indie litmus test of: well, that got a release, so…)
Song used in “Gigantic”:
“Brooklyn King” – Masta Killa
“I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight” – Richard and Linda Thompson
“Fat Man” – Derrick Morgan
