The first image has arrived for the upcoming comedy “No Strings Attached,” and how weird it is that the most visually arresting thing in it is a bunch of carrots?
Directed by Ivan Reitman, the film stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher as a couple who struggles to prove that you can have a purely sexual relationship without becoming attached or fall in love. The film is one of several on the way dealing with purely sexual relationships, including Will Gluck’s “Friends With Benefits” hitting next summer (in fact, both films had the same title at one point) and the Farrelly Brothers‘ “Hall Pass” coming in February.
As far as first images go, couldn’t the studio have come up with something better other than Kutcher in an ugly jacket, presenting produce to a disappointed Portman hiding under a bland trenchcoat? Oh yeah, he’s doing that because in the scene, Kutcher tries to get around the “no posies” policy established by the couple by giving her vegetables. Whatever works, but we never really had much hope for this one anyone. Slated with a dumping ground release of January 21, 2011 and following on the heels of “My Super Ex-Girlfriend” Reitman is really gonna have to knock this one out of the park to put him back on our radar.
