The current status of Neill Blomkamp‘s "Alien" movie is "Maybe when Ridley Scott is finished with ‘Alien: Covenant,’ " but Sigourney Weaver is certainly hoping it’ll happen. But Alien Day is upon us, and Blomkamp has used the opportunity to share some artwork he’s come up with for what looks like an all-grown-up Newt. So, will the character appear in Blomkamp’s "Aliens" followup that will ignore the subsequent sequels? Well, last fall, Michael Biehn said the director’s movie actually put Newt center stage.
"They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old," the actor explained in November. "I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one, it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt. It would keep the franchise alive and the studios would make money, because that’s what the bottom line is now: money."
