When Netflix canceled “Iron Fist,” the world said, “Meh.” When the streaming service axed “Luke Cage,” the world said, “Oh, interesting.” And when Netflix pulled the plug on “Daredevil,” the world said, “OH GOD NO!” But what will the world say when Netflix cancels “Jessica Jones?” It appears that’s exactly what the streaming service would like to know.
In a new Reddit post, a fan took a screenshot of a survey that the streaming service is sending to subscribers, asking their opinions on the cancellations of the Marvel superhero series. The problem is that Netflix seems to be jumping the gun on one of its series – “Jessica Jones.”
You see, it’s great that Netflix is curious about fan reaction to the canceled series. The only problem is that “Jessica Jones” is still in production on its third season and no “official” decision has been made about the series’ fate. It would appear that the streaming service has already made up its mind about the rest of Marvel’s series on the platform – “Jessica Jones” and the forthcoming “The Punisher” before they even launch.
At this point, however, this is all expected and fans have been bracing themselves for the news anyway. The real shock would be that Netflix decides to keep “Jessica Jones” past the forthcoming Season 3. But barring some sort of miracle, it would appear that the decision has already been made and fans should just continue to act as if the series is ending.
Tangentially, with all this news about the Marvel TV and Netflix partnership dissolving, will viewers even bother watching next month’s ‘Punisher’ Season 2 or the upcoming third season of “Jessica Jones?” Clearly, these series went into production with no idea that they are effectively ending, so it’s likely fans will be left with yet another half-told story like in the latest season of “Daredevil,” where seeds were planted for an “inevitable” season 4.
So, how do you feel about “Jessica Jones” being canceled? Netflix would love to know.
