Someone’s got to keep the Scott kids employed, so why not Ridley Scott himself (they usually direct many of his shorts, promo videos and marketing ephemera, though it’s unclear who was behind this latest clip)? Today, if you haven’t noticed so far, is Alien Day. On April 26 every year (a nod to planet LV-426 from the “Alien” films), Alien Day essentially kicks off a marketing celebratory campaign for the next Alien movie, in this case, “Alien: Covenant.” It’s no more than a promotional tool, but at least today 20th Century Fox has released a cool video explaining what happened between the events of “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” set some 30 years apart from each other.

Entitled “The Crossing,” this prologue short, which won’t be part of ‘Covenant,’ features Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender as Elizabeth Shaw and David, and helps to explain how they got to the planet featured in the new movie, while not answering all the questions you might have…
Here’s the synopsis of ‘Covenant’ in case you’re not clear what the movie is exactly.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
Due May 19, “Alien: Covenant” features the all-star cast of Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby. Surely, it’ll be a blast watching them all get picked off one by one.
