New Dead Man's Bones Track, Death Of The Movie Soundtrack?

Ryan Gosling and Zack Shield’s Dead Man’s Bones have had a track from their upcoming album leak. Titled “My Body’s A Zombie For You,” the track is perfectly described as “a dreamy, old-timey waltz about zombies” featuring vocals from the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. We think it’ll sound better in context of the album though it’s still enjoyable. The band’s self-titled debut album comes out October 6. [Pitchfork]

Jack Black’s upcoming video game “Brütal Legend” will feature more than 100 metal tracks on its soundtrack. Players will be able to rock out to the likes of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Megadeth as they control the game’s protagonist, Eddie Riggs, voiced by Black, a roadie who is accidentally transported to a fantasy world inspired by the artwork of heavy metal album covers and becomes the world’s savior as he leads the down-trodden humans against a range of supernatural overlords using a battle axe, his Flying V guitar infused with magical powers, and a customizable hot rod. The Jones Brothers’ Joe reportedly broke up with actress Camilla Belle to focus on his career which will now include “actor.” Jones is evidently set to feature in the upcoming rom-com “Valentine’s Day” as himself, wow there’s a big fucking stretch. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift , who’s also in the film, may do more than act in it, as she is reportedly close to signing a deal to record a song for the soundtrack. You’re super excited. [ONTD]

Death of the movie soundtrack? In short, a report thinks that the lack of studio backing, music licensing costs rises, lack of consumer demand and the tendency by filmmakers to overlook music looks to have led to the demise of music soundtracks which, in the haydays of “Saturday Night Fever,” were huge sellers. Not dead yet but as they write “on life support.” Mmm, not sure we agree with this post at all. More later. [TheWrap]
