The marketing campaign for Ridley Scott’s “Alien: Covenant” continues to surge forward with the release of two more new stills (three were released yesterday), a series of short goodbye films from each of the crew members, and new details regarding Michael Fassbender’s role in the film:

Three recently revealed Michael Fassbender as twin androids and more graphically, a Neomorph going to town on what looks like a crew member of the ship titular ship Covenant. New photos aren’t quite as exciting, but do once again tease the mystery standing underneath what looks like a army of alien pods (could this be Guy Pearce reprising his Peter Weyland role?)

Additionally, a series of viral videos has been released detailing the final goodbye’s that crew members Tennessee (Danny McBride), Rosenthal (Tess Haubrich), Daniels (Katherine Waterston), and Lope (Demián Bichir) make before beginning their hyper-sleep. Brief flashes in the videos offer a look at the crew on an unknown planet (particularly in Daniels video), that highlights an interesting visual style, reminiscent of a GoPro, that will hopefully translate into the film.
Finally, while talking with Entertainment Weekly, Fassbender revealed that he is playing dual roles in the film. He is both reprising his role as android David, last seen in “Prometheus” leaving in the Engineer’s ship with Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace). EW does reveal that the film takes place a decade later and Fassbender is also playing the role of Walter, a crew member on the ship Covenant. Fassbender explains, “I wanted Walter to be more Spock-like, devoid of human characteristics or emotional contents that are programmed into David. I want him more like a blank canvas one can project things upon.” Fellow cast member Katherine Waterston seems sold on Fassbender’s performance, telling EW, “It was genuinely fascinating. He’s so convincing! It felt like time-traveling into the future.” [EW]
