New Image From Disney's 'Wreck-It Ralph'; Skrillex Contributing Music To The Film

nullIn case it wasn't fully apparent, electronic musicians have quickly been accepted as music composers for film. With Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross already winning Oscars, and with acts like Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and M83 taking on film composition gigs, it seems both directors and studios are more than willing to take a slight risk with non-traditional scores. And the reward is music that has been, for the most part, refreshingly different and unique, and now Disney is getting in on the act.

During the Comic-Con presenation of the film yesterday, director Rich Moore announced that popular EDM knob twidder Skrillex would be contributing music to "Wreck-It Ralph." And the pairing makes sense. Set in an arcade, and among the world of video games, the animated film follows Ralph (John C. Reilly) who is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. But Ralph unfortunately puts the game world of Sugar Rush in peril when he accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade.

It will certainly be a change of pace from Skrillex's current work on Harmony Korine's bonkers "Spring Breakers" and is a smart choice for a movie about video games. The bleep bloop of the world is about to get much more interesting. “Wreck-It Ralph” hits theaters on November 2nd. Check out a new image from the film below.
