One can only imagine the pressure on everyone involved with “Blade Runner 2049.” The sequel has some big shoes to fill as the follow-up to one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, but Denis Villeneuve credits his handsome lead star for helping him keep a level head.
“Ryan was my muse,” the director told EW. “He has the movie on his shoulders. He’s in almost every single frame. To see his smile in the morning — and when Ryan Gosling smiles, the camera melts — and his goodwill and strength just meant the world to me. I owe him a lot. This movie owes him a lot.”
While plot details are still being kept under strict secrecy, it is interesting to note that Gosling is going to essentially be in every scene, even with an ensemble that includes Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis and Barkhad Abdi. That’s a whole lotta Gosling, which will either be great news or a bummer depending on who you ask.
“Blade Runner 2049” arrives on October 6th. Check out some new images below.
