Yeah, we know. It seems a bit “duh, obviously” that a Marvel property is considered a viable vehicle for future films, but just wait a moment. You have to remember that aside from the comic faithful, Joe Average has no idea what the hell “Guardians Of The Galaxy” is besides what they see in the trailer. It’s already an unlikely candidate for a movie, and so the idea of further films doesn’t immediately seem like a no-brainer. That said, we’ve already heard rumblings that spinoff solo films might be in the works, and that the film is connected to “The Avengers 3.” And Disney chief Bob Iger is thinking even bigger.
On a conference call with investors this week, Iger stated that in ‘Guardians’ he sees “strong franchise potential,” and he’s not stopping there. “I’m not going to predict that we’ve got another ‘Avengers’ on our hands, but that’s certainly the goal,” he explained. Damn. So we’d expect a massive campaign for this one soon.
Until then, here’s a couple more pics (via JoBlo). “Guardians Of The Galaxy” opens on August 1st. Do you see multiple movies happening?
