Hollywood’s goal of remaking every single horror film of the last forty years appears to be going strong. The latest victim is “Carrie.” Granted, the casting of Chloe Moretz as the title character and Julianne Moore as her mother sounds great on paper, especially with Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry“) at the helm. But the first full trailer for the movie, released earlier this month, didn’t leave many people hopeful, nor did it leave much to the imagination. Now, new images from the film have arrived, once again confirming that Chloe Moretz will be drenched in blood, in case you had no idea.
“Carrie,” of course, is a re-telling of the Stephen King novel that was first made in 1976 with Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie in the aforementioned main roles, directed by Brian De Palma. It will definitely be a tough task to top a film that is widely considered a classic of the genre. Hopefully Moore and Moretz have more to offer than what’s showcased in the trailer. They deserve the benefit of the doubt. You will get to see for yourself when “Carrie” comes out on October 18th. [Kinogallery]
