Cinephiles waited patiently throughout 2014 for Werner Herzog‘s "Queen Of The Desert," but when it finally debuted this year at the Berlin Film Festival, the response was a bit muted. The movie about traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché Gertrude Bell was described our critic as weirdly non-Herzog-ian, and largely a "stodgy historical biopic." So, a bit of a disappointment perhaps, but one the rest of us still want to see for ourselves.
Nicole Kidman takes the lead role, with supporting turns from James Franco, Robert Pattinson, and Damian Lewis, in the film that details Bell’s career, romances, and more. No matter what the movie looks like, Herzog seems to bring his always great eye for visuals, and these new images from the movie provide yet another look at the grand vistas and period settings.
No U.S. release date yet, so until news arrives, these pics will have to suffice. [Robert Pattinson Worldwide and QOTD]
