New Jack Ryan Movie Moving Forward; Untitled Script To Arrive Soon

Sounds like those rumors of George Clooney playing Jack Ryan in the adaptations of the Tom Clancy novels (“Clear And Present Danger,” “The Hunt For Red October”) could be more than just a pipe dream.

Apparently a new script called (so far), the “Untitled Tom Clancy Project” by Iranian scribe Hossein Amini (‘The Four Feathers,” “Killshot”) is reportedly due to arrive at Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s office soon. Could the talk about George Clooney playing Jack Ryan actually come to fruition?

Whether Clooney will star or not seems premature, but the fact that a script exists and follows closely on the heels of his alleged interest does bode well, or at least for the project himself. Regardless if Clooney’s appear in it or not, some have complained he’s too old for the role considering the character, but by that token so too was Harrison Ford and that never stopped Hollywood. Our biggest fears, other than ‘Indy 4 Crystal Skulls’ syndrome (bringing a project belatedly that no one is really scrambling for) is that di Bonaventura’s latest producing gig was on “G.I. Joe” which looks so dreadful, you’d think no one would want their name on it (his entire CV is pretty sketchy (read: mostly terrible) unless you consider “Transformers” and “Doom” to be modern masterpieces of cinema).
