New Look At Jason Segel & Walter From 'The Muppets'; More Plot Details Emerge

Sure to be one of this year’s biggest films, “The Muppets,” the latest adventure from our felt-covered friends has attracted a world of talent.

The film is led by Jason Segel who wrote the film with Nicholas Stoller, and he’s joined by Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper with cameos from pretty much everyone you can imagine, including Emily Blunt, Ricky Gervais, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dave Grohl and, possibly, Lady Gaga, Ed Helms, Donald Glover, John Krasinski, and Danny Trejo. On top of that, “Flight of the Conchords” star Bret McKenzie is writing songs for the film, which isn’t too surprising considering director James Bobin, also helmed episodes of the show. At this point, details on the film have been some of the worst kept secrets around Hollywood, but still it appears there is a bit of new info out there.

Stitch Kingdom (via /Film) has uncovered a few new details about the plot that finds the Muppets reuniting to save their old theater from a greedy oilman, as well as a new pic of Segel and Muppet Walter, both of which you can check out below.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino house band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
