“Youth In Revolt,” Miguel Arteta’s adaptation of the cult C.D. Payne novel, is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month, before the Weinstein Co. puts it out at the end of October (though if the next few weekends, with the releases of “Inglourious Basterds” and “Halloween II,” go against Harvey and Bob, this may be put back; though October is so nearby we’re doubtful this one would get pulled).
Rope Of Silicon has a couple of unseen pictures from the coming-of-age picture in their Toronto preview, featuring Cera with co-stars, Adhir Kalyan (“Aliens in America”) and newcomer Portia Doubleday.
We’re eagerly anticipating “Youth In Revolt” in these parts — “Chuck & Buck” bought Miguel Arteta a ton of faith, the supporting cast (Steve Buscemi, Jean Smart, Ray Liotta, Justin Long, Ari Graynor and mountain-man-of-the-moment Zack Galifianakis) is pretty outstanding, and the source material should provide the stretch that many have been demanding from Michael Cera (though we’ve read a few test screening reports of late that haven’t been totally enthusiastic… we’ll see).
“Youth In Revolt” hits theaters October 30.
