New Photo Of Benedict Cumberbatch As 'Doctor Strange'; First Trailer Will Debut On Jimmy Kimmel Next Week

Doctor StrangeUse one highly anticipated blockbuster to promote the next would-be franchise, right? That seems to be the marketing flavor du jour, though somehow Warner Bros. didn’t bother using "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" as a launching pad for another “Suicide Squad” trailer (maybe it has something to do with those pesky reshoots). At any rate, Disney knows good corporate synergy when they see it.

Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is on ABC and so is “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.;” plus Disney, which owns ABC and Marvel, has a new movie coming out you may have heard of called “Captain America: Civil War.” So the plan? Four nights of Marvel-focused shows on Kimmel beginning Monday, April 11th.

Stars from ‘Civil War,’ ’S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ “Thor” and “Doctor Strange” will appear as guests on the show’s couch to make a splash in the lead-up to “Captain America: Civil War,” which opens on May 6th. The show will likely deliver clips and goodies and things of that nature from the upcoming Marvel slate — but perhaps the biggest reveal will be the new trailer for “Doctor Strange,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, that will air on Tuesday, April 12th (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” star Clark Gregg will also be a guest that night). Speaking of “Doctor Strange,” Marvel has revealed a new photo of the sorcerer supreme, and director Scott Derrickson recently revealed on Twitter that the rash of set photos from the New York leg of the shoot was the end of the line and production on the new Marvel film has wrapped.

Back to Kimmel: If you want specific details, the week breaks down like this. Monday is ‘Civil War’ day (Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and Paul Rudd will appear). Tuesday is the aforementioned Cumberbatch/Gregg night. Wednesday is “Team Iron Man” (Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, Chadwick Boseman and Paul Bettany), and Thursday closes out with Chris Hemsworth, who will likely be promoting “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” instead of a Marvel-product because “Thor: Ragnarok” is a ways off. Mark it all in your calendar.
