What do we know about Woody Allen’s “Magic In The Moonlight” so far? Well, besides a new poster that had the whole Internet up in arms because of its poor Photoshop—despite the fact that poor Photoshopped movie posters are a dime a dozen—quite a bit. Though since I’ve not watched the trailer—saving myself for the movie—I feel personally a little bit more in the dark in terms of flavor.
But in case you haven’t heard that much about it, the film stars Emma Stone, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden, Eileen Atkins, Hamish Linklater, Simon McBurney and Jacki Weaver. It’s about an Englishman brought in to help unmask a possible fraudulent spiritualist, but personal and professional complications ensue when he falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Classics has released five new images which you can see below along with the poster that everyone was kvetching about.
Incidentally, the prodigious Woody Allen already has another movie in the works. We know it’s set in Rhode Island, it stars Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix (working with the auteur for the first time), but further details are scarce. But one new actor has joined the cast. U.K. writer Baz Bamigboye (basically the only entertainment source you can trust at the Daily Mail), reports that up-and-coming British actor Jamie Blackley has joined the ensemble. Blackley will be seen next in "If I Stay" alongside Chloe Moretz in the next teen tearjerker movie, a la “The Fault In Our Stars,” that is all the rage with the kids these days. No word on who he’ll play because no one knows nuthin’ at the moment.
“Magic In The Moonlight” opens in New York and Los Angeles July 25th via Sony Pictures Classics and then presumably expands after that. Photos below including new ones from IMDb.
