New Pics From Pedro Almodóvar's Creepy, Cannes Bound 'The Skin I Live In'

With Cannes just around the corner, Pedro Almodóvar‘s “The Skin I Live In” has taken a competition slot and we can hardly wait to see what the helmer has in store as the film is shaping up to be unlike anything he’s done before. The film is a revenge picture based on crime novelist Thierry Jonque‘s 2005 book, “Tarantula,” about a plastic surgeon’s revenge on the man who raped his daughter. But really, that’s just scratching the surface. The film has a loathsome protagonist who, while seeking justice for his daughter, keeps his wife imprisoned and subjects her to humiliating sexual acts with strangers, so those hitting the Croisette expecting a frothy Euro delight will be in for a rude awakening.

Some new pics have arrived over at Abando (via Bleeding Cool) and they are effectively strange and somewhat creepy. Also, we’re just dying to find out what the dude in the tiger costume is all about. The film stars Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, Roberto Alamo, Blanca Suárez, Eduard Fernández, José Luis Gómez, Bárbara Lennie, Susi Sánchez, Fernando Cayo and Teresa Manresa. Longtime collaborators such as composer Alberto Iglesias, DoP Jose Luis Alcaine and editor José Salcedo are once again in the mix.

The Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 11th. Check out more pics below, slightly NSFW.
