New Poster And Photos For John Cameron Mitchell's Grief Drama 'Rabbit Hole'

A new poster and batch of photos have been unveiled for John Cameron Mitchell‘s parent-grief drama “Rabbit Hole” starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart.

Based on an award-winning play by David Lindsay-Abaire (who adapted his own work for the screen), the film chronicles the story of two parents as they deal with the aftermath following the death of their young son; a story for which Mitchell has a strong affinity, having personally lost a younger brother at a similar age.

The film is more or less Mitchell’s first collaboration with professional actors — Dianne Wiest and Sandra Oh round out a strong cast — a move which has more than paid off if the rave reviews from its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival are anything to go by. Our own TIFF review described the pic as “an honest and powerful… [exploration] of the lasting wounds caused by the loss of a loved one and the unsteady road that must be taken to heal.”

The helmer further described his two leads as as “virtuosic,” “a beautiful resonate instrument that can respond to gentle guidance,” and the “Stradivarius” of their craft. And rightfully so, Kidman’s performance is already being touted as a strong contender in the Best Actress race while Wiest also puts in a strong supporting turn.

“Rabbit Hole” is slated for an Oscar-hopeful December 17th limited theatrical release through Lionsgate before going wide on January 14th. [HitFix/Yahoo]
