New Poster For 'The Place Beyond The Pines,' Plus Poster & Pre-Trailer For 'The Lone Ranger'

nullThe early months of the year are always a little bleak, cinematically speaking, as the last few weeks have demonstrated ("Gangster Squad," "Movie 43," "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" et al). And bright spots over the next few months are fairly sparse too, but we know for sure that there's some good news on the way, in the shape of Derek Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond The Pines." We were always looking forward to it, seeing as it was the follow-up to the director's excellent "Blue Valentine," and that it saw the filmmaker reteam with Ryan Gosling. And with Bradley Cooper, Ben Mendelsohn, Dane DeHaan, Emory Cohen, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne and Ray Liotta also on board, our anticipation only increased.

And indeed, when Kevin saw the film at TIFF last year, it proved to be his favorite of the festival, one that saw the director "place himself in the canon of great, contemporary American filmmakers." We're still a ways away from seeing the picture in release, but to pass the time, Recent Movie Posters have uncovered a new one-sheet for the film. It's not quite earth-shattering; we love the image at the bottom, but the floating heads at the top are kind of generic. Still, Focus have to do what they have to do to sell the film, and hopefully it'll be greeted warmly by audiences when it goes into limited release on March 29th. Check the poster out in full below.

Further off, but also getting a poster today, via Digital Spy, is "The Lone Ranger." Disney's revival of the popular Western character reteams the creatives behind the "Pirates of the Caribbean" mega-franchise in director Gore Verbinski, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, writers Ted Elliot & Terry Rossio, and star Johnny Depp. The new poster (a British one, hence the August release date) sees Depp side-by-side with Armie Hammer, who plays the title character, and it's, well, a poster. It's also been accompanied by a very brief preview clip of the ad that will debut during the Superbowl pre-game on Sunday. "The Lone Ranger" hits on July 3rd
