New Poster & Photos Of 'Camp X-Ray' Starring Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart in "Camp X-Ray"

Okay, Taylor Lautner, it’s your move. The primary “Twilight” duo of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have used their YA-vampire cache as a stepping stone to work with extremely interesting filmmakers: Walter Salles, Olivier Assayas, David Cronenberg, David Michod and many, many more. Lautner has fallen behind in that regard, but it’s possible he might have been legitimately interested in “Abduction” and “Grown Ups 2” (and/or, he just hasn’t found the right roles yet). That’s neither here nor there, but it does remind us that Kristen Stewart has another intriguing looking project coming up. Titled “Camp X-Ray,” the movie is an indie that premiered at Sundance earlier this year, and features the actress as in an unlikely, but challenging role of a Guantanamo Bay detention camp guard.

Written and directed by first-time feature helmer Peter Sattler, the movie co-stars Tara Holt, John Carroll Lynch, Lane Garrison, Peyman Moaadi, Cory Michael Smith and Joseph Julian Soria. Here’s the official synopsis:

A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small town roots. But she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay instead, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. A story of two people, on opposite sides of a war, struggling to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. And in the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.

IFC Films will release "Camp X-Ray" theatrically on October 17th and VOD on October 28th. The first official U.S. poster for the film and new photos have arrived, and you can check them out below.
