New Posters For Olivier Assayas' 'Something In The Air,' 'Django Unchained' & 'Expendables 2'

nullIn today’s one-sheet round-up we have a teaser poster for a multi-lingual coming-of-age drama, a slavery/vengeance flick, and a testosterone-filled action movie that is inspired by one of the most famous paintings in the world.

First up is the teaser poster for “Carlos” and “Summer Hours” director Oliver Assayas’ next directorial effort, “Something In The Air.” The striking imagery is certainly in keeping with what little we know of the film, which is set in early 1970s Europe where “Gilles is a high school student in Paris, swept up in the political fever of the time. Yet his real dream is to paint and make films, something that his friends and even his girlfriend cannot understand. For them, politics is everything: the social struggle all-consuming. But Gilles gradually becomes more comfortable with his life choices and learns to feel at ease in this new society.” The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, with a North American debut presumably later in the year courtesy of its distribution deal with IFC Films. Next up is a new poster for Quentin Tarantino’s “southern,” “Django Unchained,” which isn’t really all that different from the first poster: the Saul Bass-esque silhouettes of a chain leading down to Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz is moved to the right to make room for the names of the stars. Regardless, we’re still excited to see what Tarantino has in store for us on Christmas Day. [IMPA]null

nullAnd finally we have a “The Last Supper”-inspired poster for the Sylvester Stallone-led “The Expendables 2.” It’s a truly ridiculous image to behold, but one that is absolutely in line with the kind film they’re selling, and at this point you already know whether you’re in or not. It’s still bizarre that a film that features aging action stars like Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren — along with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s triumphant return to the action genre — will see wide release in a couple of weeks. Be sure to wear your Cannon Films shirt when you go see “The Expendables 2” on August 17th. [Collider]
