New Posters For Richard Linklater's 'Bernie' &' The Raid: Redemption'

nullA couple of posters for your eyeballs as we head into the weekend, so let's just get right to it…

Richard Linklater (much like fellow '90s indie darling Steven Soderbergh) is a directorial chamelon, and since his breakout film "Slacker," he's managed a wide range of films from big studio work ("School Of Rock," "Bad News Bears"), animated flights of fancy ("Waking Life," "A Scanner Darkly"), single location dramas (the underrated "Tape"), coming of age classics ("Dazed & Confused") and even period movies ("Me And Orson Welles," "The Newton Boys"). And his latest is another shift in gears.

"Bernie" is a dark comedy in the "Fargo" vein that brings together a pretty ace cast including Matthew McConaguhy, Jack Black and Shirley Maclaine to tell the story of a beloved mortician (Black) in a small Texas town who befriends a mean old widow (Shirley MacLaine) and commits a horrific crime. McConaughey plays the confident local D.A. who always gets his man. It's an enjoyable little slow burn thriller, and should be a nice reprieve from the ramp up to blockbuster season when it opens on April 27th.

But it let it be known…there is nothing slow or subtle about the upcoming "The Raid: Superfluous Title." You know the drill — Gareth Evans directed this one, which has made every geek across the land cream their pants with the non-stop action, that even fans say is built on a thin plot. But when the action is as relentless and inventive as it is here, who cares right? By all accounts (including ours) once this things start, it's a helluva ride. "The Raid" hits on March 23rd.
