“Preacher” may not have much to do with its originators much anymore — “from the guys that brought you ‘This Is The End‘ and ‘Sausage Party‘ and the co-executive producer of “Breaking Bad“– but the show is still touting their names. Perhaps it’s because “Preacher” is a modest show for AMC and not a big player in their portfolio. Still, season two was green lit and has begun airing already. Being the Western-y, genre-elements of the show, yep, you can bet it was at Comic-Con today in San Diego.
Here’s the official synopsis in case you don’t know what this show is about (and maybe you can tell I really don’t).
Based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name, Preacher is an absurdly twisted and action-packed thrill ride. When Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher with a criminal past, realizes God is absent from Heaven, Jesse sets out to find Him. Along for the ride are Tulip, Jesse’s volatile true love, and Cassidy, a 119-year-old Irish vampire, who is Jesse’s best mate. The gang ends up in New Orleans, where they must dodge local gangsters, dangerous secret agents in white suits, and the Saint of Killers, an unstoppable murderous cowboy from Hell.
“Preacher” stars Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun, Ian Colletti, Graham McTavish, Noah Tyler and Pip Torrens. The series is based on the Vertigo comics series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and Season 2 is currently airing on AMC.
