New Rules, Same Movie: 'Scream 4' Trailer Arrives

Are you ready for another “Scream” movie? No? Well, too bad.

We really don’t get the excitement in some quarters about the return, eleven years later, of the “Scream” franchise but with the new trailer debuting over the weekend at the Scream Awards, and hitting the web now, you can bet Dimension Films are going to do their best to make sure people sit up and pay attention. Not much is known about the plot, but the production did encounter some major roadbumps along the way with franchise creator Kevin Williamson cutting all ties with the production as Ehren Kruger (“Scream 3,” “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen“) came in and rewrote the script, apparently to the chagrin of some cast members who find their roles reduced or dumbed down (Lauren Graham actually left the project as a result).

So, the trailer? It promises new rules, more extreme kills and scantily clad young female bodies. Basically, your standard horror movie fare. Wes Craven says that if the film does well, it will spawn more sequels but he also thought “Clash Of The Titans” was “beautiful” so take that for whatever it’s worth. The film stars Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Anthony Anderson, Marielle Jaffe, Marley Shelton, Adam Brody, Alison Brie, Mary McDonnell along with original stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette and featuring cameos by Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin, and will hit theaters April 15, 2011.
