New Show Canceled: Mitch Hurwitz Can Finally Start Writing 'Arrested Development' Script

The “Arrested Development” script has inched forward by default. Mitch Hurwitz’s new FOX show, “Sit Down, Shut Up,” has been officially canceled according to Variety (and we mean “officially” because keen audiences are always expecting a Mitch Hurwitz show to die before it fully blooms).

“Arrested Development” Exec-Producer and Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard – that sounds funny, no? – recently said the ‘Sit Down’ show was slowing down Hurwitz’s progress on the ‘Development’ screenplay and when he says, “slowed down progress” he means, “prevented-any-progress-from-starting.”

But one closed door opens another, no? Hurwitz is allowed a week to grieve the death of his animated show, but then he better getting cracking on the “Arrested Development” movie, because for 1) most of the actors from the beloved and canceled TV show have cleared their 2009 schedule so they can actually shoot the damn thing, and 2) longtime fans that refuse to let go will continue to pollute message boards and comment sections the world round with their kvetching, and really, who needs that?
