New 'Star Wars: Episode 7' Plot Details Rumored, J.J. Abrams Reveals X-Wing And More

J.J. Abrams, 'Star Wars'Production continues on "Star Wars: Episode 7," with everyone working towards a hiatus in August, when the filmmaking team will take a couple of weeks to rejigger plans and schedules to work around Harrison Ford‘s injury before cameras roll again. And alas, more new details are kicking around about the potential plot, so read on, and obviously, if even vague speculation might ruin everything for you, spoilers ahead

Just under a month ago, word started circulating that the plot for ‘Episode 7’ would find Han Solo leading a team of young people through the galaxy to find Luke Skywalker. And over the weekend, Badass Digest added a bit more padding to the rumored storyline. According to the site, ‘Episode 7’ takes place thirty years after the events in ‘Return Of The Jedi,’ and will open with Luke’s lightsaber-clutching hand floating through space and landing on a desert planet, where it’s discovered by John Boyega ("playing someone trying to change his path in life") and Daisy Ridley who decide to return the lightsaber to its rightful owner. That leads them to Han Solo and Chewbecca, who are no longer flying the Millenium Falcon, and they recognize the lightsaber as Luke’s (who they haven’t seen since ‘Jedi’) and everyone goes to find him. But of course, evil is lurking, as "on an ice planet, nefarious forces are building a super weapon, one capable of destroying not planets but entire solar systems…"

We won’t spend too long trying to analyze this, but the entire thing sounds a bit "Star Trek"-ish and not particularly "Star Wars"-y, but it’s also the barest scraps of details at this point, so who knows how it will turn out. But be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section. Meanwhile, a couple of quick updates that are a bit more real.

Latino Review reports that Christina Chong ("24: Live Another Day") has joined the cast in an unspecified role, while Abrams has dropped another update from the "Force For Change" campaign, and you can hear all the details from the man himself as he stands beside an X-Wing Fighter. Excitement!
