” ‘Lego Batman’ is ‘About A Boy‘ as directed by Michael Mann,” director Chris McKay told USA Today. “This is a single guy who suddenly has a kid literally drop into his world.” If that’s not the perfect sell for “The Lego Batman Movie,” I don’t know what is, but the more the filmmaker talks about it, the more it sounds like I could happily ignore the live-action universe and have my popcorn fun with these animated movies instead.

“The Lego Movie” star Will Arnett is back to play the very emotional Batman, but this time around, he’ll be knocking blocky fists with Joker (Zach Galifianakis), while handling a very needy sidekick in Robin (voiced by Michael Cera). It really sounds like a whole load of fun, and one that will be filled with plenty of surprises. Here’s the official synopsis:
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO® Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble — LEGO Batman — stars in his own big-screen adventure: The LEGO® Batman Movie. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
“The Lego Batman Movie” opens on February 10, 2017.
