New Trailer: Michael Moore's Tries To Sell 'Capitalism: A Love Story' Every Which Way Possible

CNN has a new trailer for Michael Moore’s forthcoming economy documentary, “Capitalism: A Love Story,” which, as we noted last week, now comes with an updated September 23 release date (perhaps they didn’t want to face off against Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” which they were up against when the date was October 2).

“It’s a crime story,” Moore told EW in their fall preview issue (again, not online yet). “But it’s also a war story — about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the upper 1 percent feeding off the rest of us. And of course, it’s also a love story.” It’s “also a comedy,” he says later in the piece, geez!

Uhh, apparently Moore is trying to hit all his bases when he markets the film. What’s next, an action picture? Oh wait, that’s covered in the war story angle.

To CNN, he says much the same: it’s got something for everyone. “It’s got it all — lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day.”

Will a documentary about something that affected us all finally strike a chord with apathetic Americans? Moore hopes so. “This is the big enchilada. This is about the thing that dominates all our lives — the economy. I made this movie as if it was going to be the last movie I was allowed to make.”

Now that would be a real shame. “Capitalism: A Love Story,” hits in limited release on September 23 via Paramount Vantage (one of their last remaining pictures) and Overture Films (who are still going and probably leading the charge on this one). Hopefully this embed works cause it’s been acting wonky. Not sure why he uses M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” in this one other than it’s a good song, but it does have the “Ca’ching!” sound that fits we suppose and fun to edit to.
