After “Jason Bourne” opens next week, it’ll be “Suicide Squad” capping off what has been a pretty underwhelming summer overall. The offerings from the major studios haven’t been all that great, and when they have been (such as “The Nice Guys“) nobody showed up. But tracking toward a huge opening, with big expectations riding on its shoulder, “Suicide Squad” is going to be the event to cap off the season.

And Warner Bros. are making sure everybody knows about the movie in what is increasingly looking like an expensive as hell marketing campaign. The latest piece of material is a new trailer and a series of character promos, all offering new footage and fresh looks at Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and everyone else in the bad guy team who are recruited to try and do some good. Can David Ayer deliver where Zack Snyder failed? We’ll find out soon.
“Suicide Squad” opens on August 5th.
