Update: Two New 'Up In The Air' Images, Buzz Continues To Soar

Update: one new image has arrived.

The buzz on Jason Reitman’s “Up In The Air” is so gushingly positive it’s almost obnoxious.

Are expectations going to be thrown way out of proportion? Will there be backlash? We’ll be seeing it next week. We do like Jason Reitman, and it’s nice to hear him be so eloquent and knowledgeable about filmmaking in every interview he gives, but he’s definitely overrated in some circles. That said, this one seems to be the one that is proving even those that said, “Yeah, ‘Smoking’ and ‘Juno’ are good, but…” wrong.

Jeffery Wells, always a good critic to follow because he’s fairly skeptical and weeds through bullshit rather well (though his hatred for “Antichrist” is off as are his tepid feelings about “Bright Star”), positively gushed over the film. “I’ve just seen the most eloquent, affecting and altogether best film of 2009…so far. Yes, better than my beloved ‘The Hurt Locker.’ If it doesn’t win the Best Picture Oscar next February…well.”

That’s some high friggin’ praise. Roger Ebert is the latest critic to fall completely under the film’s spell. Man. We’re looking forward to it, but can wait. It’ll be a week until we see it, but at this point, there’s hundreds of reviews and there’s no rush. We can wait to board. Though our one question is Anna Kendrick? Is she right for this role? Anyone that’s seen it? When we read the script, everyone seemed a perfect fit except for her.
